We decided on the competitive eating community because we were all interested in their culture. The most difficult part of the design process was creating an aesthetically rich and imaginative activity to understand their culture. I tended to lean towards learning just what and how they do rather than why. Only asking about the facts is not helpful in understanding their culture. The kit’s attempt to be thought provoking was by word associativity and journal. Hopefully competitive eaters use these activities to think about how food effects their daily lives. In conclusion, I feel it is difficult to create an expressive activity to peak the interest of the testers for better data.
